MyBelize.Net Company Limited (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates https://autos.mybelize.net (the “Site” or “Service”), an online marketplace that allows sellers to list vehicles for sale and allows buyers to browse listings and contact sellers through inquiry forms. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Site, whether as a visitor, a registered buyer, or a registered seller.

By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

We are based in Belize, and this Policy is written primarily to satisfy Belizean law and general international best practice. If we knowingly serve users in regions with specific privacy laws (such as the EU/UK or California), the additional rights described in Section 10 apply to those users.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

• Account information: name, email address, phone number, password, and (for sellers) business or dealer name if applicable.
• Listing information: vehicle make, model, year, VIN, mileage, condition, photos, price, and description submitted by sellers.
• Inquiry form data: when a buyer contacts a seller, we collect the buyer’s name, email address, phone number (if provided), and the content of the message.
• Payment information: sellers may pay listing fees via PayPal, cash paid in person at our office, or bank-to-bank transfer. For PayPal payments, PayPal processes the transaction and we do not store your full card or PayPal account credentials on our own servers — see Section 5. For cash payments, we record the payment amount, date, and the staff member who received it. For bank transfers, we record the transaction reference, amount, date, and the sending bank/account name needed to match the payment to your listing.
• Communications: information you provide when you contact customer support, respond to surveys, or otherwise correspond with us.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Log data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring URLs, and timestamps.
• Cookies and similar technologies: used for authentication, remembering preferences, and analytics (see Section 6).
• Approximate location: inferred from your IP address, or precise location if you choose to share it (e.g., to filter listings by area).

2.3 Information From Third Parties

• Payment confirmation and fraud-check data from PayPal.
• Payment confirmation data from our bank, for sellers who pay by bank transfer.
• Information from identity or vehicle-history verification services, if we use them to validate listings.
• Analytics data from providers such as Google Analytics.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage buyer and seller accounts.
• Publish and display vehicle listings on the Site.
• Deliver buyer inquiries to the relevant seller and facilitate communication between buyers and sellers.
• Process seller payments for listing fees and send related receipts.
• Verify listings and detect fraudulent, misleading, or duplicate postings.
• Respond to customer support requests.
• Send administrative messages (e.g., confirmations, policy updates, security alerts).
• Send optional marketing communications, where you have opted in (you may opt out at any time).
• Monitor, analyze, and improve the Site’s performance and user experience.
• Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

4. How Information Is Shared Between Buyers and Sellers

Because the Site’s core function is connecting buyers and sellers, some information is necessarily shared between users:

• When a seller publishes a listing, the listing content (vehicle details, price, photos, and the seller’s display name and/or contact details, as configured in their account) is publicly visible to all visitors.
• When a buyer submits an inquiry through a listing’s contact form, that buyer’s name, email, phone number (if entered), and message are sent directly to the seller who posted the listing, so the seller can respond.
• We are not a party to the communications or transactions between buyers and sellers, and we are not responsible for how a seller or buyer subsequently uses information exchanged through an inquiry.

Seller note: Sellers who receive buyer inquiries are independently responsible for handling that buyer’s personal information in compliance with applicable law and should not use it for purposes unrelated to the vehicle sale.

5. Other Disclosures of Your Information

We may share information with:

• PayPal, to process seller listing fees paid by card or PayPal balance. PayPal has its own privacy policy governing the payment data it handles, available at paypal.com/privacy.
• Our bank, to process and verify seller payments made by bank-to-bank transfer.
• Hosting, analytics, email-delivery, and customer-support service providers who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations.
• Professional advisors such as lawyers, accountants, and insurers, where necessary.
• Law enforcement, regulators, or other third parties where required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
• A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as web beacons and local storage) to operate the Site, remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how visitors use the Site through analytics tools such as Google Analytics.

• Buyer inquiry messages are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to support the transaction and resolve any disputes, after which they may be deleted or anonymized.
• Payment records are retained as required by applicable financial and tax laws.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. Card and PayPal account details for online payments are handled directly by PayPal, a PCI-compliant payment provider, and are not stored on our own servers. Records of cash payments received at our office and bank transfer confirmations are kept securely and access is limited to authorized staff.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you share information with us at your own risk.

9. Your Choices and Rights

• Access and update: you can review and update most account and listing information by logging into your account.
• Marketing opt-out: you may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those emails, or by contacting us.
• Account deletion: you may request deletion of your account by contacting us at [email protected]. We may retain limited information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention, financial records).
• Cookie controls: see Section 6 above.

10. Additional Rights for Specific Regions

If applicable privacy law in your region grants you additional rights, the following applies to the extent required by that law:

10.1 European Economic Area / United Kingdom (GDPR/UK GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability. Our legal bases for processing include performance of a contract (operating your account and listings), legitimate interests (site security, fraud prevention, service improvement), consent (marketing, optional cookies), and legal obligation. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10.2 California (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (we do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA).
